Trivia Tuesday: Kalamazoo College

Kalamazoo College is located in Kalamazoo Michigan. It was founded in 1883 making it one of the 100 oldest educational institutions in the U.S. Kalamazoo College’s focus on international education, experiential learning and academics helps to set it apart.


Here are some more fun facts about Kalamazoo College:


  • 80-85% of Kalamazoo's students participate in a study-abroad program

  • Kalamazoo has a strong recycling program.  In RecycleMania, a competition between more than 400 colleges and universities, Kalamazoo placed first in two categories in 2008 and again in another category in 2012.  

  • In the spring, students are randomly given a "Day of Gracious Living, wherein they have the day off.  

  • Kalamazoo produces the most Peace Corps volunteers per capita of all U.S. academic institutions. 

  • 140 acres are part of the Lillian Anderson Arboretum and consist of pine and deciduous trees, marsh, and meadows.
