Fellow Profile: Faith Brown, JIF '15

Hello! My name is Faith Brown and I am currently a senior at Bath High School in Bath Michigan. I am a mentor in Big Brothers Big Sisters, the president of my school’s Student Government, and I recently helped start an Environmental Club at my school. I also run cross country and track; I love running long distance!

During the summer between my Junior and Senior year, I was blessed with the opportunity to go to Brown University for 2 weeks to take a pre-college course through the Joyce Ivy Foundation. My course was entitled “The Politics of Global Public Health” and it was incredibly fascinating! Our professors taught at the graduate level in Brown’s School of Public Health, and the class got to meet many influential people who work in the Public Health field. I even got to correspond with an AIDS activist in South Africa! None of this would have been possible without the generosity of the Joyce Ivy Foundation.

My Summer Scholar experience inspired me to reach higher in my educational pursuits after high school and to not be afraid to break out of my comfort zone. I am very excited to be working with this foundation and to inspire other bright young women!
