Fellow Profile: Morgan Schultz, JIF '15

Guten Tag! Hola! Hello!

My name is Morgan Schultz. I am from Parma, Ohio, which is a suburb right outside of Cleveland, Ohio. Currently, I am a very involved junior at Lutheran West High School in Rocky River, Ohio. This year I am taking German, Spanish, and English classes (hence the multi-lingual introduction), although my favorite subjects are math and science! I especially love Algebra and Biology. My friends would probably tell you that I am empathetic, enthusiastic, smile-y, and outgoing. Right now, I am in the school play and I have been in drama since freshmen year. Theatre is a real passion of mine and ranks right next to volunteering and just talking with people. I have had the opportunity to be a tutor every Tuesday at a church in my community and the opportunity to usher at Playhouse Square (Cleveland’s theatre district). I am also a member of the National Honors Society, International Thespian Society, the Honors Academy at my high school, Academic Challenge, and my school’s service club, as well as an ambassador for my high school. I love being involved in so many activities and I am so excited to be a new fellow!

This summer, I had the extraordinary opportunity to enroll in two classes at Washington University in St. Louis. I took ‘Improvisation for the Actor’ and ‘Introduction to Problem-based Learning in Biology’. My program lasted for five weeks and they honestly flew by, but also it seemed so long at the same time. It was great to be a real college student, taking college classes with high school and college students. I’m so grateful that I was able to be a JIF Summer Scholar, to learn so many new things and to gain many lasting friendships. And now I am so happy to be a JIF Fellow!
