Fellow Profile: Sydney Mantell, JIF '14

Hello everyone! My name is Sydney Mantell and I am currently a Senior at North College Hill High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. I participated in Washington University in St. Louis's Summer Scholars program in 2014 and have been involved with the Joyce Ivy Foundation ever since. Their scholarship really changed my life because it gave me a chance to see what college would be like. I met a ton of amazing people from all over the globe who shared so many unique stories with me. I also really connected with my mentor, Karen Conant, who encouraged me to apply for the Fellows program. I am involved in a ton of different extracurricular activities like Varsity Volleyball, Drama, Girls Creating Change, Varsity Academic Team, and the Night for the Fight Leadership Team. Joyce Ivy even inspired me to develop my very own non-profit organization, Not-So-Standard Standardized Test Prep, an ACT tutoring program for low-income students. I am super excited to become a Fellow and help out the next generation of Joyce Ivy Summer Scholars.
