Honorary Scholars Program in Arts & Sciences

Paying for college doesn't have to be a struggle! There are so many scholarship programs out there for bright girls (like you!), and all it takes is one extra application to give yourself a shot at these fantastic opportunities!

The Honorary Scholars Program in Arts & Sciences and Washington University in St. Louis awards up to 16 full tuition and $1000 stipend, and 16 half tuition scholarships every year to members of its incoming class. If you are planning to attend the School of Arts & Sciences, you should take a look at these. These scholarships are renewable every year provided that you keep your grades up (that means 2-4 years of FREE COLLEGE), and there are four types available: Moog, Lien, Compton, and Mylonas. Although you may only apply to one of these four, applying for one of them does not preclude you from applying to other scholarships (to the business or engineering school, for example) offered by WashU. These are merit scholarships, so demonstrated need is not necessary.

About each one:

Florence Moog Fellowships in Biological Sciences and Chemistry- For students who plan to pursue an undergraduate major in biology, philosophy-neuroscience-psychology, chemistry, molecular biology, or environmental biology.

Arnold J. Lien Scholarships in Social and Behavioral Sciences- For students who plan to pursue an undergraduate major in economics, gender studies, African American studies, linguistics, philosophy-neuroscience-psychology, Urban studies, psychology, education, environmental policy, anthropology, American culture studies, archaeology, international studies, or political science.

Arthur Holly Compton Fellowships in Physical Sciences and Mathematics- For students who plan to pursue an undergraduate major in mathematics, physics, environmental earth sciences, or earth and planetary sciences.

George E. Mylonas Scholarships in Humanities- For students who plan to pursue an undergraduate major in languages (Arabic, German, Spanish, etc), art history, classics, English, drama, film studies, comparative literature, history, music, philosophy, religious studies, comparative arts, near eastern studies, philosophy-neuroscience-psychology, or the interdisciplinary project in the humanities.

Of course, these scholarships are highly selective, and they require an essay, an interview process, and an all-expense-paid visit to the WashU campus. For more information about these particular scholarships and how to apply, click here.

These are not the only scholarship opportunities available at WashU! There are also scholarships available for those who want to attend the schools of architecture, businessart, and engineering, as well as several university-wide scholarships for people with special skills.
