Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
- For those looking for possibly the brainiest atmosphere in the United States, Massachusetts Institute of Technology is the perfect scene for you. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, MIT shares their city with Harvard University.
- Arrrrg, matey! At MIT, if you complete a pistol, archery, sailing, and fencing PE course, you get your very own Pirate’s License.
- Be prepared to go to war! Well, prank war. MIT and Caltech have had a long-standing prank war going for many years. MIT even stole Caltech’s famous Fleming Cannon!
- Among the many things MIT is famed for, one of the more shining aspects of the school is The Infinite Corridor. This hallway lives up to its name as it is .16 miles long! Even more intriguing, twice a year, The Infinite Corridor is drowned in sunlight when it lines up with the plane of the ecliptic.
- At the Legoland Discovery Center in Somerville, Massachusetts; you can find a replica of MIT’s entire campus made completely of LEGOs. More than 20,000 bricks went into the making of the campus.
- While working is a large focus at MIT, no one ever said you can’t have fun doing your work. A team of several MIT hackers famously spent about four years working to turn the Earth and Planetary Sciences Department building into a large-scale game of Tetris.
- There are far too many amazing people who have attended MIT to name them all, but a few of the more notable alumni to date include Republican presidential hopeful, Carly Fiorina; Buzz Aldrin, the second person to ever walk the moon; and long-time CEO of General Motors, Alfred P. Sloan.
- Now to get down to the facts: what it takes to get into MIT. The college holds a 7.9% admission rate and has an average SAT score of 2220. It will take a lot of hard work to get into MIT!
