The National Center for Education Statistics released a new report: Projections of Education Statistics to 2021 (Jan 2013). On page 10 there is a graphic of the national projections for changes in the number of high school graduates by state. Midwestern states are expected to experience a range of declining numbers, leveling off, and varying degrees of growth. This reaffirms for me the challenge facing college admissions offices as they seek to recruit and enroll students from the region.
