A few highlights from this application cycle and our 2013 group:
- Record number of students from across the JIF-supported Midwestern states (including two of our new states, Minnesota and North Dakota)
- Record number of Summer Scholars named: 79
- 2013 Summer Scholars by state:
- Michigan: 36
- Ohio: 24
- Nebraska: 8
- Missouri: 5
- Minnesota: 3
- North Dakota: 3
- 69 different high schools represented in the group of 2013 Scholars
- 41% rank first in their high school class (of those whose high schools provide rank)
- 28% will be first generation in their family to attend a four-year college
- 41% self-identified as students of color
- 45% are receiving our highest need-based financial aid award level; 45% our mid-level need-based award, 10% our merit-based award
- Inaugural Frank Minolli Engineering and Science Award recipients have been selected
- Inaugural Mary Vandewiele Leadership Award recipient selected
- Our first JIF Alumnae Supported Summer Scholar has also been announced
