NPR recently did a piece examining the challenging job college counselors face and the differences in college counseling resources across secondary schools. NPR based the story in Michigan and visited two schools: Cranbrook Schools in Bloomfield Hills and Osborn Collegiate Academy of Math, Science and Technology, 19 miles away in Detroit. Members of the Cranbrook college counseling office have been featured faculty members at the Joyce Ivy College Admissions Symposium (JCAS) for several years, leading sessions with college counseling colleagues from across Michigan and Ohio. A growing amount of national attention is being focused on college counseling resources available to students. Read the full NPR piece here. Also available are the Joyce Ivy Foundation reports on the state of college counseling in Michigan and Ohio, and registration for JCAS 2015.
