Announcing the 2015 Alumnae Supported Scholar

Each year, Summer Scholars alumnae raise funds to support a scholarship for a current Scholar. This year's fundraising campaign broke previous records, and I am proud to announce that Isabella Spaulding (Lincoln High School, Nebraska) has been selected as the 2015 Recipient of the Alumnae Scholarship.

From the recent press release:
Isabella is captain of the Debate Team and a member of the Debate Association Honor Society. She plays viola and is first chair in the Lincoln Youth Symphony where she also serves on the Student Advisory Council. Isabella volunteers and tutors English Language Learner (ELL) students and is an assistant teacher and Shodan in Aikido. She also serves on the Youth Inspire Board of Directors.

"Isabella stood out in this year's applicant pool," said Allison Jegla, Joyce Ivy alumnae, Senior Fellow, and a member of the Summer Scholars Selection Committee. "She is involved in her community in a myriad of ways, and is reflective about her background and upbringing while showing a willingness to take risks in new environments. These characteristics resonate with Summer Scholars alumnae, and we hope Isabella feels the support of alumnae as she prepares for her summer experience."
