Joyce Ivy, Fairy Godmother

Allison Jegla, JIF '10, Penn '16, and Joyce Ivy Senior Fellow, shares her perspective on the role Joyce Ivy and other community-based organizations play in the admissions process:

"The Joyce Ivy Foundation was one of my first fairy godmothers, and it continues to play an immeasurable role in my life and the lives of hundreds of other young women. Whether or not you are from the Midwest, it can be helpful to seek mentorship from an individual or a community-based organization (CBO) like Joyce Ivy to help alleviate anxiety and provide guidance throughout the college application process and beyond. It is difficult to overstate the importance of being educated about the process, including understanding policies, deadlines, and requirements. Utilizing CBOs can help you put your best foot forward and showcase who you are in the context of where you’re from."
