Advice for Students on College Essays: Written by a College Counselor


Whether you're a high school senior getting ready to turn in your Regular Decision applications or a junior who is just starting to think about the application process, college counselor Patrick O'Connor has some advice for you!

Writing the common app essay can be tricky (as I'm sure you remember from your Joyce Ivy application, which conveniently used the same questions as the Common App), but if you just remember some key points, it can be much easier and a lot less scary. Furthermore, these points are useful for anytime you have to write a personal essay, not just for undergraduate admissions! Personal essays are written for graduate and professional school admissions as well.
