Hello, my name is Andrea Chambers. I am a junior from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. This summer I had the amazing opportunity to be a Joyce Ivy Foundation Summer Scholar. As a JIF scholar, I was able to attend the Brain Basics class through the Summer at Brown program at Brown University. I was able to live in a dorm at Brown for three weeks and participate in various activities and trips. One of the most memorable trips I attended was a trip to Boston, Massachusetts. I went to Boston with two of my friends, I made through the program, and was able to go to the New England aquarium, and experience life in a big city for a weekend. This was such an amazing experience. I live in a midsize town that does not have a population as big as Boston's. This experience showed me that I love the "big city" life and that I want to attend a university that is in or close to a big city. Thanks to the Joyce Ivy Foundation I was able to travel to the East Coast by myself for the first time in my life, make memories and friends that will last a lifetime, and experience a class and life at an Ivy League school that I would not be able to afford without Joyce Ivy's help.
