There are various scholarships out there for students aspiring to attend a top-tier university such as the University of Pennsylvania (most commonly known as UPenn). Like other Ivy League schools, UPenn offers financial aid solely based on need rather than merit. As always, it is crucial to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in a timely manner in order to guarantee priority in scholarships. Below are the list of some of the options prospective students have when financing their education at UPenn:
Grants:
State Grants
Although typically these grants are reserved for students planning to attend university within that particular state, UPenn accepts grants from Ohio, and other states outside the Midwest.
Penn Grant
These are awarded to student based on financial need through general University funds.
Scholarships:
University Named Scholarships
These scholarships are provided through direct gifts to the University from alumni and friends. They are awarded based on academic merit and financial need. In order to be considered for these scholarships, you need to complete the financial aid process. No additional application is required.
Outside Scholarships
There are many third parties that offer scholarships to incoming college freshman.
