Introduction to Fellows: Bhageerathi Ganesan

Bhageerathi Ganesan is a 2016 Joyce Ivy Summer Scholar and current high school senior at New Albany High School in New Albany, Ohio. She attended a 2-week cancer biology course at Emory University over the summer of 2016, fuelling her interest in cancer and cell biology research and clinical treatment. A linguaphile and francophile, she is the lead spelling bee coach and regional pronouncer for the Columbus Chapter for the North South Foundation, a nonprofit organization that uses the funds from contests for Indian-American students in the United States to send smart, underprivileged students in India to college. Apart from volunteering and speaking French to anyone who will listen she also sings mezzo-soprano in her school's a cappella choir and learns Indian classical music and dance. She hopes to study biology with a molecular, chemical, and cellular specialization in college on a pre-med track.
