‘Tis the most wonderful time of the
year! College students are finishing up their finals before reuniting with
family and friends for the holidays; high schoolers can finally take a deep
breath and relax for a couple weeks. So with the couple weeks you have to wind
down, give gifts, and eat lots of cookies, what should you do?
Catch up! Without 6 hours of school everyday, you will have lots of
time to catch up on really anything. Whether it be homework, studying,
sleeping, that show on Netflix, with friends, or anything else, holiday break
is a great time to assemble yourself in a way you might not have had time to do
in the past couple months. For my juniors out there, this is also an
opportunity to do a couple practice tests without schoolwork interfering.
Take a detour! Without a doubt the busiest time at airports, you
can definitely use this time to travel somewhere fun and rejuvenate yourself
with family. However, it doesn’t have to be so formal or expansive. A small
road trip up north or even a dinner out at that favorite restaurant serves the
purpose just as well–this is a great chance to explore somewhere you’ve been
looking forward to no matter the scale.
Try something new! With whatever time you have, use it to discover
something you’ve been intrigued in for a while. New language, instrument, or TV
show, this is the time to find new things that you might’ve not had time to do
otherwise.
And most importantly, relax and enjoy! Whatever you end up
doing, don’t forget to enjoy yourself, let go of stress for a bit, and get
ready to restart. Make memories that you will never forget and that will be
imprinted in you as you approach the new year, 2017.
Happy holidays everyone! I’ll see
you next year :)
