Happy 2018!
For many high school students, the beginning of the new
year also signifies a sort of formal end to the college application process, as
most schools set January 1 as the deadline for submitting Regular Decision
applications. (Some schools extend their deadlines through the first week of
the month, so for those of you adding the finishing touches to your
applications- you're almost there!)
Finally! All that hard work has paid off, and you can sit
back and relax for a bit, knowing that you put in an honest effort into
completing all those essay questions and submitting test scores, transcripts,
personal information, etc, etc. Was it fun? Not really. But will it be worth it
when you get that acceptance letter into the school of your dreams? Definitely.
As we look towards the new year and new beginnings,
reflect on that fact that all those years of education, from preschool till
now, has led up to this moment, the moment you apply to college. It's an
amazing feeling, isn't it? Knowing that you've done all of that? Enjoy the time
you have left as a high schooler, and take some time to celebrate! You've done
it! You've taken one of the first steps towards adulthood by applying to
college!
